Haavard Skinnemoen 4a776f0aa9 dmatest: Simple DMA memcpy test client
This client tests DMA memcpy using various lengths and various offsets
into the source and destination buffers. It will initialize both
buffers with a repeatable pattern and verify that the DMA engine copies
the requested region and nothing more. It will also verify that the
bytes aren't swapped around, and that the source buffer isn't modified.

The dmatest module can be configured to test a specific device, a
specific channel. It can also test multiple channels at the same time,
and it can start multiple threads competing for the same channel.

Changes since v2:
  * Support testing multiple channels at the same time
  * Support testing with multiple threads competing for the same channel
  * Use counting test patterns in order to catch byte ordering issues

Changes since v1:
  * Remove extra dashes around "help"
  * Remove "default n" from Kconfig
  * Turn TEST_BUF_SIZE into a module parameter
  * Return DMA_NAK instead of DMA_DUP
  * Print unhandled events
  * Support testing specific channels and devices
  * Move to the end of the Makefile

Haavard Skinnemoen 1099dc7924 dmaengine: Couple DMA channels to their physical DMA device
Set the 'parent' field of channel class devices to point to the
physical DMA device initialized by the DMA engine driver.

This allows drivers to use chan->dev.parent for syncing DMA buffers
and adds a 'device' symlink to the real device in
/sys/class/dma/dmaXchanY.

Haavard Skinnemoen 02a00cf672 avr32: Power Management support ("standby" and "mem" modes)
Implement Standby support. In this mode, we'll suspend all drivers,
put the SDRAM in self-refresh mode and switch off the HSB bus
("frozen" mode.)

Implement Suspend-to-mem support. In this mode, we suspend all
drivers, put the SDRAM into self-refresh mode and switch off all
internal clocks except the 32 kHz oscillator ("stop" mode.)

The lowest-level suspend code runs from a small portion of SRAM
allocated at startup time. This gets rid of a small potential race
with the SDRAM where we might try to enter self-refresh mode in the
middle of an icache burst. We also relocate all interrupt and
exception handlers to SRAM during the small window when we enter and
exit the low-power modes.

We don't need to do any special tricks to start and stop the PLL. The
main clock is automatically gated by hardware until the PLL is stable.

Haavard Skinnemoen 01d3a5e7fa atmel_lcdfb: don't initialize a pre-allocated framebuffer
If the user specified a fixed framebuffer address on the command line, it may
have been initialized already with a splash image or something, so we
shouldn't clear it.

Therefore, we should only initialize the framebuffer if we allocated it
ourselves. This patch also updates the AVR32 setup code to clear the
framebuffer if it allocated it itself, i.e. the user didn't provide a fixed
address or the reservation failed.

I've updated the at91 platform code as well so that it initializes the
framebuffer if it is located in SRAM, but I haven't tested that it actually
works.

Haavard Skinnemoen 325d6f5593 avr32: Fix OCD refcounting bug
Iff the parent has TIF_DEBUG set, _and_ clone_flags includes
CLONE_PTRACE we should set the TIF_DEBUG flag for the child and
increment the ocd refcount. Otherwise, the TIF_DEBUG flag must be
unset.

Currently, the child inherits TIF_DEBUG from the parent before
copy_thread is called, so TIF_DEBUG may be already be set before we
determine whether the child is supposed to inherit debugging
capabilities from the parent or not. This means that ocd_enable()
won't increment the refcount, because TIF_DEBUG is already set, and
that TIF_DEBUG will be set for processes that aren't being debugged.

This leads to a refcounting asymmetry, which may show up as

------------[ cut here ]------------
Badness at arch/avr32/kernel/ocd.c:73
PC is at ocd_disable+0x34/0x60
LR is at put_lock_stats+0xa/0x20

forks a new child process, e.g. "strace mount -tjffs2 mtd1 /mnt", and
subsequently killing the child process (e.g. "umount /mnt".)

Haavard Skinnemoen a1cfac48ba MAINTAINERS: add Haavard as maintainer of the atmel_serial driver
The following patchset cleans up the atmel_serial driver a bit, moves a
significant portion of the interrupt handler into a tasklet, and adds DMA
support. This is the result of a combined effort by Chip Coldwell, Remy
Bohmer and me. The patches should apply cleanly onto Linus' latest git tree,
and I've also tested it on -mm (with a couple of avr32 fixes applied to make
the rest of the tree compile.)

With DMA, I see transfer rates around 92 kbps when transferring a big file
using ZModem (both directions are roughly the same.) I've also tested the same
thing with a bunch of debug options enabled. The transfer rate is slightly
lower, but no errors are reported.

Note that break and error handling doesn't work too well with DMA enabled.
This is a common problem with all the efforts I've seen adding DMA support to
this driver (including my own). The PDC error handling also accesses icount
without locking. I'm tempted to just ignore the problem for now and hopefully
come up with a solution later.

This patch:

The atmel_serial driver never had a MAINTAINERS entry, although Andrew Victor
has effectively been acting as a maintainer since he got the driver merged
into mainline in the first place.

I'll keep Cc'ing Andrew on all patches, but I'm going to take the main
responsibility for getting things moving upstream from now on.

Haavard Skinnemoen 8bacb21901 atmel_spi: fix dmachain oops with DEBUG enabled
In atmel_spi_next_xfer, xfer can be NULL because the next transfer may
already have been submitted to the PDC (using DMA chaining). This can
cause an oops, since the debug message assumed it was never null. The
fix changes how those debug messages are issued, ensuring that one is
issued each time a transfer is started instead of once per call.

Also, properly indent the "can this transfer be chained" test so it's
not hidden as if it were non-conditional code.

and turn the OCD system on and off as appropriate. Since enabling
debugging turns off some optimizations in the CPU core, this fixes the
issue that enabling KProbes support or simply running a program under
gdbserver will reduce system performance significantly until the next
reboot.

The CPU performance will still be reduced for all processes while a
process is being debugged, but this is a lot better than reducing the
performance forever.

Haavard Skinnemoen 6ea6dd93c9 ptrace: Call arch_ptrace_attach() when request=PTRACE_TRACEME
arch_ptrace_attach() is a hook that allows the architecture to do
book-keeping after a ptrace attach. This patch adds a call to this
hook when handling a PTRACE_TRACEME request as well.

Currently only one architecture, m32r, implements this hook. When
called, it initializes a number of debug trap slots in the ptraced
task's thread struct, and it looks to me like this is the right thing
to do after a PTRACE_TRACEME request as well, not only after
PTRACE_ATTACH. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I want to use this hook on AVR32 to turn the debugging hardware on
when a process is actually being debugged and keep it off otherwise.
To be able to do this, I need to intercept PTRACE_TRACEME and
PTRACE_ATTACH, as well as PTRACE_DETACH and thread exit. The latter
two can be handled by existing hooks.

Haavard Skinnemoen 68ca3e537f [AVR32] Fix copy_to_user_page() breakage
The current implementation of copy_to_user_page() gives "vaddr" to the
cache instruction when trying to sync the icache with the dcache. If
vaddr does not exist in the TLB, the CPU will silently abort the
operation, which may result in the caches staying out of sync.

To fix this, pass the "dst" parameter to flush_icache_range() instead

Haavard Skinnemoen 2507bc1338 [AVR32] Follow the rules when dealing with the OCD system
The current debug trap handling code does a number of things that are
illegal according to the AVR32 Architecture manual. Most importantly,
it may try to schedule from Debug Mode, thus clearing the D bit, which
can lead to "undefined behaviour".

It seems like this works in most cases, but several people have
observed somewhat unstable behaviour when debugging programs,
including soft lockups. So there's definitely something which is not
right with the existing code.

The new code will never schedule from Debug mode, it will always exit
Debug mode with a "retd" instruction, and if something not running in
Debug mode needs to do something debug-related (like doing a single
step), it will enter debug mode through a "breakpoint" instruction.
The monitor code will then return directly to user space, bypassing
its own saved registers if necessary (since we don't actually care
about the trapped context, only the one that came before.)

This adds three instructions to the common exception handling code,
including one branch. It does not touch super-hot paths like the TLB
miss handler.

Haavard Skinnemoen 8dfe8f29cd [AVR32] Clean up OCD register usage
Generate a new set of OCD register definitions in asm/ocd.h and rename
__mfdr() and __mtdr() to ocd_read() and ocd_write() respectively.

The bitfield definitions are a lot more complete now, and they are
entirely based on bit numbers, not masks. This is because OCD
registers are frequently accessed from assembly code, where bit
numbers are a lot more useful (can be fed directly to sbr, bfins,
etc.)

Bitfields that consist of more than one bit have two definitions:
_START, which indicates the number of the first bit, and _SIZE, which
indicates the number of bits. These directly correspond to the
parameters taken by the bfextu, bfexts and bfins instructions.

Haavard Skinnemoen 9e6077bd84 atmel_serial: fix break handling
The RXBRK field in the AT91/AT32 USART status register has the
following definition according to e.g. the AT32AP7000 data sheet:

    RXBRK: Break Received/End of Break
0: No Break received or End of Break detected since the last RSTSTA.
1: Break Received or End of Break detected since the last RSTSTA.

Thus, for each break, the USART sets the RXBRK bit twice. This patch
modifies the driver to report the break event to the serial core only
once by keeping track of whether a break condition is currently
active. The break_active flag is reset as soon as a character is
received, so even if we miss the start-of-break interrupt this should
do the right thing.

back a line just before we invalidated it, the dirty data may be
sitting in the write buffer waiting to corrupt our buffer later.

Haavard Skinnemoen 093d0faf57 [AVR32] Define ARCH_KMALLOC_MINALIGN to L1_CACHE_BYTES
This allows SLUB debugging to be used without fear of messing up DMA
transfers. SPI is one example that easily breaks without this patch.

Haavard Skinnemoen 2fdfe8d9a2 [AVR32] STK1000: Set SPI_MODE_3 in the ltv350qv board info
In the latest incarnation of the ltv350qv driver the call to
spi_setup() has been removed. So we need to initialize things more
carefully in the board info struct.

Haavard Skinnemoen 5a9a62bb03 atmel_spi dma address bugfix
When either rx_buf or tx_buf is not being used, i.e. for plain read- or
write operations, the atmel_spi uses a fixed-size DMA buffer instead. If
the transfer is longer than the size of this buffer, it is split into
multiple DMA transfers.

When the transfer is split like this, the atmel_spi driver ends up using
the same DMA address again and again even for the buffer that came from the
user, which is of course wrong. Fix this by adding the number of bytes
already transferred to the DMA address so that the data ends up in the
right place.

Thanks to Wu Xuan for discovering this bug.
