Clang can assemble these files just fine; this is a relic from the top level Makefile conditionally adding this. We no longer need --prefix, --gcc-toolchain, or -Qunused-arguments flags either with this change, so remove those too. To test building: $ ARCH=arm64 CROSS_COMPILE=aarch64-linux-gnu- \ CROSS_COMPILE_COMPAT=arm-linux-gnueabi- make LLVM=1 LLVM_IAS=1 \ defconfig arch/arm64/kernel/vdso32/ Suggested-by: Nathan Chancellor <[email protected]> Signed-off-by: Nick Desaulniers <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Nathan Chancellor <[email protected]> Reviewed-by: Vincenzo Frascino <[email protected]> Tested-by: Stephen Boyd <[email protected]> Acked-by: Will Deacon <[email protected]> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/[email protected] Signed-off-by: Catalin Marinas <[email protected]>

Linux kernel
============
There are several guides for kernel developers and users. These guides can
be rendered in a number of formats, like HTML and PDF. Please read
Documentation/admin-guide/README.rst first.
In order to build the documentation, use ``make htmldocs`` or
``make pdfdocs``. The formatted documentation can also be read online at:
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/
There are various text files in the Documentation/ subdirectory,
several of them using the Restructured Text markup notation.
Please read the Documentation/process/changes.rst file, as it contains the
requirements for building and running the kernel, and information about
the problems which may result by upgrading your kernel.
